In a press release dated August 8, the General Tax Administration (“AGT”) announced that, starting from September 2024, it will start publishing the List of Accountants under Close Monitoring, as a measure to combat the constant irregularities and non-compliance of the tax returns they submit.
Accountants who find themselves in this condition will be subject to greater scrutiny by the AGT, and sanctions may be imposed on them and the taxpayers they represent in the event of non-compliance.
The AGT also encourages accountants to report taxpayers who maliciously request changes to their accounts with the aim of harming the state and healthy competition, guaranteeing the anonymity of the complainants.
